A kitten’s first few days are full of new sounds, smells and people. A smaller, predictable space helps them feel safe before they explore the whole home.
Begin with one quiet room
Prepare a calm room with food, fresh water, a litter tray placed away from food, a comfortable bed and one hiding place. Let the kitten choose when to come closer.
Keep the routine simple
Use the same food and litter they already know for the first week. Feed at regular times, keep early play sessions short and avoid introducing every family member at once.
Ask when something feels unusual
Temporary hiding can be normal. Contact your veterinarian promptly if the kitten refuses food, seems unusually tired, vomits repeatedly or has persistent diarrhea.
